Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster Pirelli Edition

One of the rarest specifications Lamborghini built on the Aventador, and among the few finished as a Roadster.

The Pirelli Edition was created to mark the partnership between Lamborghini and Pirelli, a relationship that reaches back to the company's earliest cars. It is not an options package. Lamborghini built it as a distinct series with its own livery, its own interior treatment and its own badging, produced in small numbers over a single short run and never repeated.

What sets it apart on sight is the treatment down the centre of the car: a contrasting stripe running the full length of the body, gloss black roof section and mirror housings, and Pirelli Edition badging front and rear. Inside, contrast stitching runs through the seats and dashboard, with the Pirelli logo embroidered into the headrests. Forged Dianthus wheels in gloss black finish it.

Underneath is the Aventador at its purest. The 6.5 litre naturally aspirated V12 produces 700 PS at 8,250 rpm and 690 Nm at 5,500 rpm, driving all four wheels through the seven speed ISR gearbox. Zero to 100 km/h takes 3.0 seconds and it runs to 350 km/h. The chassis is a carbon fibre monocoque with aluminium front and rear subframes, and the suspension is pushrod operated, taken directly from racing practice.

As a Roadster the roof is two carbon fibre panels that lift out by hand and stow in the front compartment, roughly six kilograms each. Nothing folds, nothing is powered, and no weight is added to the car to make it happen. It is the rare case of an open car that gives up nothing to the coupe it came from.

This example has covered 2,800 miles, which is 4,506 kilometres. On a car of this age that is delivery mileage in all but name, and it presents accordingly.

Naturally aspirated V12 Lamborghinis are finished. The Aventador was the last of them, and the LP700-4 was the first and purest version of the Aventador before the S and SVJ revisions arrived. A Pirelli Edition Roadster sits at the intersection of all three: the last V12 of its kind, in its original specification, in one of the rarest series Lamborghini ever put it in. Cars like this are bought once and kept.
